چکیده
The amount and complexity of solid waste are intensified with the occurrence natural disasters, compromising response recovery actions, causing unplanned spending, environmental damage, health impacts. proper management disaster requires knowledge its characteristics such as quantity, composition, hazard, by identified stream. This article aims at characterization quantification arisen from an event intense rains, which occurred in 2013, municipalities State Espírito Santo Brazil. For characterization, online survey instrument was developed applied institutions responsible for management. associated a documentary analysis photographic records information obtained government database. Estimation generated carried out selected set using method already south country. It adapted to local later compared surveys municipality. sediments, soil mud, remains vegetation, furniture, wood, discarded scrap main waste. estimated additional generation durable consumer goods around 1,700 tons lower than municipal (7,436.46 t) period. specific low weight considered affected inclusion other residues data city hall records. methods used presented application viability, through adjustments, represented important contribution make cities able face climate change, carrying safe

Seasonal characterization and quantification of municipal solid waste: Energy content and statistical analysis
Determining the seasonal and annual quantities and compositions of the municipal solid waste and assessing the present management conditions of three urban communities in the northwest of Iran were the core objectives of this study. Our findings revealed that the average daily per capita of municipal waste generation was 0.489–0.841 kg/cap-day. Organic and food waste comprised the largest part ...

متن کاملDynamics of intense convective rain cells
Intense precipitation events are often convective in nature. A deeper understanding of the properties and the dynamics of convective rain cells is, therefore, necessary both from a physical and operational point of view. The aim of this work is to study the spatial-temporal properties of convective rain cells by using a fully parameterized nonhydrostatic code (Lokal Model) in simplified model c...
متن کاملPolarimetric radar observations during an orographic rain event
An intense orographic precipitation event on 5 January 2013 is analyzed using a polarimetric C-band radar situated north of the Alps. The radar is operated at the meteorological observatory Hohenpeißenberg (MHP, 1006 m a.s.l. – above sea level) of the German Meteorological Service (DWD). The event lasted about 1.5 days and in total 44 mm precipitation was measured at Hohenpeißenberg. Detailed h...
متن کاملAn Example of Persistent Microstructure in a Long Rain Event
A2Dvideo disdrometer (2DVD) probewas used to gather detailed dropmeasurements over a 770-min rain event. Accumulated totals of the rainfall and of the number of drops for each square centimeter showed persistent, significant correlated structures across the approximately 11 cm3 11 cm grid of the 2DVD. This is surprising because larger-scale studies suggest that the values in each square centime...
